 WORLD PNEUMONIA DAY


pneumonia is the disease in which due to bacterial or fungal infection it can cause defects to one or both lungs, air sacs or alveoli. These air sacs, alveoli can get filled with pus or fluids causing serious cough issues. Pneumonia is a treatable disease. It is a very common disease observed; it's more effective in infants of age less than 2 years and people who are more than 65 years old. Pneumonia being a treatable disease it's mostly observed over 10 million people get affected by pneumonia per year only in India.

As per the data gathering by the World Health Organisation (WHO)  and UNICEF the 155 million children under 5 years gets affected by pneumonia and over 1.6 million of them gets killed each year; It's make the pneumonia the No. 1 killing disease in the age group. It is way more than the death of children by AIDS, Malaria and measles all combined. The pneumonia is curable if it is detected in its early stages. 


Hence to spread awareness about the cause of the pneumonia and how to prevent pneumonia this day 'WORLD PNEUMONIA DAY' is observed every year on 12th of November. Therefore, the NSS JUNIOUR UNIT KELKAR COLLEGE wants to spread some causes and some precautions by which we can fight the pneumonia.


Causes of Pneumonia :-


🔸Fungus, Bacteria, viruses can cause pneumonia 


🔸Smoking cigarettes 


🔸Drinking Alcohol 


🔸And any such kind of addiction can also pneumonia.



Symptoms of Pneumonia :-


🔹Chest pains while breathing 


🔹Loss of appetite


🔹Headaches 


🔹Cough that produces phlegm or mucus


🔹Vomiting 


🔹Fever 



Prevention from Pneumonia :-


🔸Avoid any kind of addiction as it affects your immune system and offers bacteria and viruses an easy target. 


🔸Practice a proper diet and exercise as it enhances your immune system. 


🔸Use Handkerchief or tissue paper while sneezing or cough and dispose them properly or sanitize it.


🔸Regular handwashes 


🔸Proper and recommend vaccination by Doctors.



If you follow these steps you can fight with the pneumonia and by spreading these you can help others to do the same.
